1983 Champions Little Conch Minor LeagueThechampsThe first team to clinch a leoque title olonq the Kennedy Drive youth baseball circuit is fhe WKIZ squad which nailed down the 1983 little Conch Minor leaque championship last week. The team finished the reqular season with a record of 20 wins and only one loss enroute to becominq the champs in the loop for aqes 7 9. Batboy Bobby Lowe is the younqster in the foreqround while the team members and coaches are, left to riqht, first row: Jeremy Jacksonf Ronald Hiqqs, Benny lowe, Donny Barrios, Danny Barrios, Fric Stone, Joseph Hennquer and Keven Oppenheimer. Second row, fddie Morqan, Shane Rowe, Shawn Roqowski, Jimmy Carey, Michael Jaycocks and Wayne Baio. Standinq third row is manaqer Ben lowe and coach Francis Jaycocks.WKIZ ends year as champsRain and graduation ceremonies curtailed action along the Kennedy Drive youth baseball circuit with Wednesday's play being washed out and no games scheduled for Friday.Howie Schneider pitched the Goal Line to an 8 0 victory over the Fire Fighters, losing a bid for a no hitter in the sixth frame when George Hernandez rapped a single. The win keeps Manager Vincent Catala’s sporting goods gang one game behind league leading McArthur Dairy at Pedro Aguilar Kield.WKIZ finished its championship winning season with a win over Coca _ Cola at McCurdy and Jon s Hams stayed in first place at Peter Dopp Field with a big win over Coca Cola.Because of rainouts during the week, there will be make up game action this afternoon at all three fields.
