FOR BASEBALLANNUAL TOURNAMENT WILL DRAW TF.AM5 FROM MANA STATESBy BII.L WILSONBORGER, Tex . June 9.—The Borger baseball tournam nt, scheduled to open June 90 in Borger. is attracting widespread comment and attention in the Panhandle, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado, now that invitations have been mailed out, to over 100 of the leading semi-pro teams throughout nine states.The first definite announcement that a team would enter came from the famous Phillips f6 nine, renowned for past performances in Borg* r and the Denver Post tournaments. Jn 1930, the Phillips men eliminated the world champion traveling baseball team the House of David, in the Denver Post tournament.Phillips 66 won both the Borger 1932 and 1933 tournaments.J. C. Phillips, manager of the 1934 tournament, will take a trip shortly through three states in an effort to secure the best teams available.Already many teams have signified their intentions of entering the tournament thus year and it is expected that before long a weeding out process will take place in an effort to get only the pick of the lot. Entries, however, are still being received and should a team want to enter the tournament the manager may file the t am name with J. C. Phillips, Borger, Tex.
