I Art Welch Resigns As Parkway CoachROCKFORD - Art Welch, head basketball and baseball coach and assistant football coach at Park* way High School, has resigned to accept a position as freshman basketball and baseball coach at Kent State University, Kent. Welch also will serve as a scout and assist in the coaching of varsity sports.Welch, who has just completed his first year at Parkway, compiled a 412 record in basketball and a 13-2 in baseball.His baseball team won the Mercer County League and was defeated by Lima Senior High in the AA tournament 2-0. Lima went on to the semi-finals in the state tournament.
