Jackie came through with hi» usual fielding sensations and also boomed a home run that rolled to the extreme opposite corner of the field.Faust, bearded third baseman,opened the game by tripling to the fence in right and came home on FDewhirst’s sacrifice fly for their lone run. In the second, Williams beat out a scratch single but was forced at aecond. Then for the last seven innings only 23 enemy batters faced Broslus, two of them reaching first on walks but neither saw second.The Braves started things in the second when Butch Clawson reached second on a wild throw of his grounder by Faust. Ho scored on Wehrle's double to left and then Wehrle came home on Brosius' single.The Tribe counted their third run in the fourth when Clawson tripled to the fence in right and scoredwhile Smith was throwing outWehrle. In the fifth they loaded the bases but failed to score. Then, in the sixth, they scored four times on two hits, two errors and three walks.Connally opened the sixth with a terrific drive to left center that was good for four bases. Wehrle walked, Russell White grounded to Faust and White reached second andWehrle third when Faust threw' wild. Brosius fanned but Benny j doubled to right, scoring Wehrle j and Gray. Then Kooney and Witter j walked, filling the bases, and Benny ( scored th fourth and final run of |the inning while White was. forcingWitter at second. There will be nogame at Turner Field this Sundayas the Braves travel to Rockford to engage the Legion nine. However, a week from Sunday, the Chicago Firemen will invade Turner Field.
