The Sprudels' manager claimed that another town had a prior claim for Sundays game that he could not overlook.The readiness with which the Sprudel manager accepted an engagement for Sunday in a much smaller city than this where the gate receipts must be something like half as much as at Washington Park, has given rise to the question of whether or not the West Baden colored team did not get a very acute case of cold -feet. The Champs are playing great ball now and the dusky baseball warrior* may have talked the matter over with the Plutos of French Lick, who were given a beating recently by the Champs.The Indianapolis White Sox are claiming the semi-professional championship of the state and the double header Sunday will be the first games of a series of five for the championship. They are said to be the fastest Indianapolis team of this class and will give the Champs a battle royal.Wicker will pitch for the Champs and Vowinkle, also a minor league player, will work against him. The contest will no doubt be worth seeing. Fletcher will pitch the second game which will start ten minutes after the first contest closes. The first game ia called at 1:45 o’clock.
