I Mur-Lee's Baseball Clubl Illllllll Illlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllr.The MUR-LEE’S of Lynbrook, managed by Bob Baratta, continued their winning ways this past weekend by taking 3 out of 4 and running their seasons record to 9 wins and 1 loss.On Saturday June 3, the MUR-LEE’S split with New Rochelle in Long Island Conference play, winning the first game, 5 to 1, while extending their winning streak to 7 games, but fell by a score of 3 to 2 in the second. In the first game. Greg Van Nostrand increased his record to 2 wins - no losses by pitching a 2 hitter. Greg struck out two and walked none. Hitting stars for the day were Tom Nuzzi of Manhattan College who went 3 for 5 and Ron Davies from Adelphi with 2 for 5.On Sunday, June 4, in Stan Musial League Competition, the MUR-LEE’S swept a doubleheader from their Arch rivals, Acme Plumbing Supply of Valley Stream, by scores of 6 to 1 and 4 to 3. to run their League leading record to 6 wins - no losses.In the first game on Sunday, winning pitcher, Ricky Schwartz, who ran his record to 2 and 0, struck out 7. walked one, and gave up but 3 hits in the five innings he worked. Brother Alan Schwartz finished up with 2 scoreless innings in relief. Bob Borowitz continuing to display aggressiveness at the bat had 3 for 4 including a double and a triple with 3 RBI’S. Tom Nuzzi had another fine game while going 2 for 4 with one RBI.In the second game, a closely contested affair, won by the MUR-LEE’S 4 to 3, Bill Ballou went the route striking out 5 and issuing but 1 walk. During the MUR-LEE’S 4 run first inning rally, Bob Borowitz doubled to drive in Eric Restin who had opened with a single. Ron Davies then singled to drive in Borowitz, and. after a misplay in the field, Richie Loche of Nassau Community College delivered what proved to be the key hit and drove in the final two runs.The MUR-LEE'S play Hawkins Spence at Bay Park Tuesday June 6th at 9 p.m. are at Levit-town Friday June 9th at 7:30 p.m. host Nathans Famous in a doubleheader at Bay Park starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, and finjsh up the weekend against the Long Island Mets at Alley Pond Park in a 1 p.m. Sunday doubleheader.
