The Swan River Kinsmen Pool (SRKP) opened last Friday (June 1) with a splash - and some warm weather too, just in time for itsfirst wppEptiHWellness Centre), said SRKP supervisor, Lisa Zastre.In preparation for the opening weekend, the pool has undergone the routine renovations.“We paint and re-cement it every' year, paint the bottom and scmb it out, she said.Zastre added this year because of the 2012 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games they've had to do some additional work to the pool.“We've had to put in starting blocks to get ready for the games, she said.Many people came out to enjoy the first and only weekend of public swimming for the month of June.“It's only public swimming just for this weekend because for the whole month of June we have school swimming, and early bird lessons - there's not reallv anv timeadvantage of the pool last weekend - especially the popular' toys the pool puts out for the children.“We have the boat, the canoe, the crocodile, the logs and noodles, she said.Zastre noted during public swimming there wifi always be four supervising lifeguards on duty, and that she's already hired her lifeguards for tliis season.“My lifeguards this year are Kody Sauder, Taylor Henkelman, Hannah Johnson John Hart. Kelsey Hrappstead. Ryan Cable, Kaili Gilroy, Michayla Slack, Carissa Shure and Michaila Jersek, she said.Swimming lesson registration took place last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (May 28-30) at the Swan River Centennial Arena and Zastre noted it was busy.ed preschool, levels 1-10, and adult lessons. hi previous years, the pool has also offered lifeguarding courses, including the Bronze Cross lessons. Zastre said she's unsure when these lessons will run this season, but knows it won't be until after the Summer Games.“ Since Chelsey Palmer usually does (the lessons) and she's running the Summer Games this year, we won't know until after -just because she's so busy.
