Kansas City Star—The Star has a rule that the name, picture or any reference to one certain animal never can appear in the paper—That animal is a snake—(In respect to the Star, we are not mentioning the name of the paper and the animal in the same sentences)—Last Friday the ''Gasoline Alley” comic strip with “Skeeslx* and “Uncle Walt” was built around a snake which “Skeezix” found in the grass —AH papers which came into Emporia except .one, showed the snake —That one paper was the Star and it carried a remodeled comic strip with the original animal missing and a hoptoad in its place—A Star artist redrew the .whole thing because one of the powers-that-be doesn't like that certain animal— Willard Mayberry, of Emporia, who is editor of the.
