Doug Elgin Picked For Sun Belt JobTAMPA, Fla. (UPI) -Doug Elgin, sports information director at the University of Virginia the past three years, was named Friday to the new position of director of public relations for the Sun Belt Conference.Conference Commissioner Vic Bubas said Elgin will begin work July 1.“We believe the Sun Belt is on the verge of a giant step forward in national exposure and growth and Doug will help facilitate this transition during an important era of the Sun Belt’s history,” Bubas saidElgin, 32, was graduated from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and received his master’s degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University in 1975.He worked in sports information at Lafayette College, Frostburg State and at Miami Dade Community College in Florida before going to Virginia.
