JUNIOR BASEBALLWinners' bats boom in Atom LeagueThree games were played recently in the Eagles Atom League and the winners had big nights at the plate.The combined for 51 runs and 32 hits while limiting their opponents to 10 runs and 11 hits.Flippen’s Junior Boots 12, Citizens Bank 2Shansa Seavers hurled a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts as Flippen’s rolled to its lopsided win with 12 hits and 18 free passes.Toby Miller belted two triples and a single and Seavers a triple and two sngles to lead the way. Shawn Jeffers added a homer and single, Brian Bloomfield and Andy Keller triples and Thomas Dickerson, Matt Thomas and Matt Harvey singles.Antwan Grant and John Mohr singled for the losers.Cliff’s Carry Out 12, Firelands Electric 2Shawn Stacy allowed just 5 hits and recorded 16 strikeouts in and his teammates collected 9 hits to go with 10 walks.Stacy also sparkled at the plate with two triples and a doublle and Joey Gosser added two singles. Tyron Pickens, Jamie Howard and Cory Johnson doubles and Shannon Aaron singled.For Firelands, Mark Davis powered a homer and single, Josh Schmidt and Jeff White doubles and Bob Linder a single.Cliff’s Carry Out 16, Coach’s Corner 6Cliff’s came right back with 10 hits and broke the game wide open with 7 runs in the fifth inning.Three Cliff’s pitchers fanned 13, walked 8 and allowed 4 hits.Shannon Aaron had a triple and double and Gosser a double and single. Howard drilled a home run, Stacy a double and Tyron Pickens, Johnson, Anthony Cox and Kareem Matthews a single.Chris Wingader had a homer, Andre Fisher a triple and Chris Her-shey and John Lindahl singles for Coach’s Corner.Sam’s 14, Herman’s 11Sam’s got a pair of hits from 7 different players including Ben Kennedy, Russ Kennedy, Brian Eversole, Jude Feyedelem, James Roe, Chris Stephens and Donnie Frankart.Leading the Herman’s attack with 2 hits were Keithrian Pickens and William Clark.1st Buckeye 9, Litehouse 6Ed Montgomery blasted a home run while Matt Wilken and Jeremy Fry each had triples to lead First Buckeye.Jason Pairier had a single and double while going 2-for-3 and Fry also had 2 hits.Litehouse Pools got a triple and single from Karoon Grant while James Thomas went 2-for-2 with a triple and double.
