Sanko is namedTOLEDO, Ohio (UPI) — James Sanko has been named coach of the Toledo Goldiggers of International Hockey League.Jim Welch, assistant general manager, said Monday that Sanko, 38, played center for six years for Toledo hockey teams, including the 1966-67 season when the Blades won the IHL Turner Cup. He was an assistant coach two seasons while he played.He retired in 1971 and this is his first full-time coaching job.Sanko replaces Gregg Pilling, who served as an interim coach during the past season. Pilling : replaced Ted Garvin who suffered a heart attack : last June.
