First National wins tourneyFirst National Bank won the Professional Registered Officials Memorial Day softball tournament at Centennial Park with a thrilling 10-9 victory over Chandler's Lounge.The Bankers surged to a five-run advantage in the very first inning and were never headed off. A long home nin to right by John Grabowski in the fifth Inning proved to be the telling blow. Carl Durano pounded two long homers for Chandlers who scored in every inning but could never getthe extra hit when needed.The seven team field started at 10 a.m. with Lou’s Track 5 Outcasts dumping Aurello’s of Homewood. 8-5. Fritz’s Schnitzel then defeated Jimmy’s Joint of Chicago by an 11-6 score. Monee Nursery was victim of a 30-9 massacre at the hands of Chandlers; First National came on the scene and eliminated the Outcasts, 20-7. Chandlers outlasted Fritz in a real good ballgame 10-8, paving the way for the champion-shiD thriller.
