dents Earn■ Fi triesForty-nine students in CasaGrande’s four elementary•»schools recently showed their physical fitness by qualifying for Presidential Physical Fitness Awards.The award, initiated by former President Johnson’s Council on Physical.. Fitness and the American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, is given only to students who score highly in each .lt;! seven fitness tests. .Winners uf the award receive a . certificate noting their high-scoring ability to do si tups, shuttle run, standing broad jump, 50-yard dash, softball throw and 600-yard run. Buys arc also tested with puilups and girls with the flexed-arm- hang from a bar.Winners of the award must score above the 85th percentile ' mark in each of the seven events.
