were proposed as candidates for the fellowship.Angling Competition.—The annual competition of the Blairgowrie Angling Club came off upen Thursday, the 25th ait. The day previous was rainy, with a strong easterly wind—an unpleasant harbinger of the eventful tomorrow—the 9tate of the weather, though no doubt a little chagrining, amply testing the endurance of the qualities said to be strikingly characteristic of those who are enamoured of the “ gentle craft”—patience and a good temper. Towards evening, party after party of the fraternity might be seen fagging along io silent magnanimity to their respective scenes of operation, animated with the hope that to-morrow might present a more favourable aspect. To-morrow dawns, as windy and as raioyas the preceding; and it is to this circumstance alone that we can attribute the great falling-off in the “ trtkes,” as compared with last year. At 10 p.m. the members assembled in M'Laren’s Hotel, for the purpose of determining the successful party; and the various “ takes” being weighed, the following was the resalt:—W. S.
