Win pair SundayBees, Wausau splitWAUSAU, Wis. — Greg Anderson and Roger Damon each drove in two rum to give Burlington’s Bees a split of a doubleheader with Wausau in Midwest League baseball here Monday night.the Bees pounded out 10 hits to win the opener 8-5, but fell 5-2 in the nightcap. Burlington, which winds up its stay here,with a game tonight at 7:30, fell two games back of Southern Division leader Cedar Rapids.In other Midwest League action, Don Mraz hurled a no-hitter to give Quad Cities a 3-0 win over Wisconsin Rapids, at Davenport. The Angels also took the second game 3-1.Burlington’s Damon singled to lead off the sixth inning, in which the Bees scored six runs. Gary LaRocque reached on a bunt single and Ron Smith singled home Danson. Sam Monteau walked to load the bases and Dennis Holmberg followed to singled home LaRocquez.Smith was thrown out at home by right fielder Juan Monasterio, while trying to score. The Bees’ Greg Anderson, who hit a solo home run in the second inning, then doubled home Monteau. One out later and with an intentional walk to Miguel Encamacion, Edgardo Romero singled ilpme Anderson and Danson doubled home two more runs to wind up the hitting spree. The game is one of the longest (five hours, 33 minutes) in Midwest League history.The Royals rallied for one run in the bottom of the 22nd inning when with one out, Karel De Leeuw socked a solo home run over the left field wall. Clint Hurdle then flied out to second, Steve Beene reached on Dennis Holmberg’s error and Dave Smith was brought in to relieve Dick Ford. He got Luis Silverio to pop out to shortstop Edgardo Romero to earn the save.Bees’ pitcher Dave Smith struck out 10 and walked four in earning the win in the eight-inning nightcap. He gave up five hits, three of which were home runs.Burlington scored two runs to win the test in the eighth on an RBI single by Talmadge Tanks and an error.LaRocque had led off the inning with a single, and was sacrificed to second. Monteau was walked intentionally by former Council Bluff prep star Ken Cvedjlik. Ron Smith then flied to center field, moving LaRocque to third.Talmadge Tanks pinch hit for Sam Jones and singled home LaRocque. Chuck Ross grounded out, but the throw from second baseman Sam Moreta was wide of first, scoring Monteau.Waterloo rallied for one run in the eighth when Darrell Parker hit a solo home run with one out. Danny Garcia then singled and DeLeeuw flied out. Smith then struck out Clint Hurdle to end the game.
