THREE DEAD, ID HURT IN RACE AT ELKHARTTwo Arrested for Alleged Plot To Wreck Car, ELKHART, Ind., June 1.—Two deaths in a hospital here yesterday increased tTTfe toll of lives taken in the dirt track automobile races here Saturday to three. Ten persons are in the hospital.Maurice Schwartz, 60, of Mishawaka, Ind.. and Joseph Lauer. 14, oi Elkhart, died today, 'while Robert Lieb, 9. of Elkhart died yesterday.Floyd G. Shawhan and Arthur J. Davidson, both of Dayton, drivers in the race were released on bond qf $1,000 each on a technical charge of assault and battery as a result of the accident.Witnesses, police said, declared Shawhan and Davidson locked wheels with a third car driven by Frank C. Mathews, in an' attempt to wreck Mathews’ car. Mathews’ automobile crashed through a wire fence into a crowd. Shawhan won the race, while Davidson came in third. Mathews was unhurt.
