Girl Wrestler, 18, Dies When Ring Match Ruptures StomachMINNEAPOLIS -RW- The mother of an 18-year-old girl wrestler■who died after an accident in the ring said today she hears no ill will toward the sport.My daughter’s death was an accident that could_ have happened in any sport, said Mrs. Selma Boyer.Her daughter, Janet Wolfe, suffered a blood clot on the brain and a ruptured stomach at a benefit match at East Liverpool, Ohio, Friday. She died shortly after arrival at Osteopathic hospital.SHE WAS DOING what she wanted, and what happened was God’s will,” her mother said calmly.Mrs. Boyer said she didn’t object to Janet’s career.Janet'was always a strong, healthy girl, so I didn’t stand in her way,” she said,“If a girl wants to do something and really has her heart set on it there is do sense in standing in her way. It will only make her bitter,” Mrs. Boyer said.Janet was adopted,- with her mother’s consent, five months ago by Mildred Burke, world’schampion woman wrestler, andBilly Wolfe. Ohio sports promoter.WOLFE, GRIEF-stricken over the death of the Minnesota girl whom he had adopted after she had begged him for two years to make her a woman wrestler, said he believed Janet had suffered a severe btain injury during some previous match and that a jolt in the Friday night event caused her death.He said friends disclosed after the girl died that she bad complained of severe headaches for several weeks but refused to allow anyone to tell him.“Janet was so intent upon becoming the top woman wrestler in the country that she refused to let anyone tell me about her headaches for fear that I would cancel her bookings.MBS. BOYER, a widow, said that Wolfe had been very kind and that she was sure he had the best interests of her daughter at heart.The mother said she had never seen a wrestling match until her daughter started talking about the sport about a year ago. Then Mrs. Boyer started watching it on television. She said she had never seen her daughter in a match.Janet’s fatal accident occured when she was pinned in a match with Ella Waldeck of Columbus, O. She complained of a severe headache afterwards but nevertheless entered a tag match later in the evening.MIDWAY THROUGH thematch, Janet fell unconscious on the apron outside the ring. She was rushed to the hospital and died without regaining consciousness.Mrs. Boyer said the body would be returned to Minneapolis for funeral services at the Davies mortuary.
