atBY TERRY MORRISMedina’s Pony Tail All-Stars weren’t exactly DEBonair hosts to Hinckley, in last night’s Medina Pony Tail Tournament opener, and the visitors can thank Debbie Gregory for that. Miss Gregory, Medina’s short fielder, banged out four hits in the same number of times up, including a two-run homer, to lead herteam to a 7-3 victory over Hinckley.Medina scored four runs in the third frame to sew up the contest, but a late flurry by the Buzzards made things exciting before the home team marked up some insurance. Medina now moves into a second clash with defending champion Brunswidk, tonight at 6:30 p.m., at the Ella Canavan west diamond.Mary Lynn Lemmer and Debbie McDuffee, of Medina and Hinckley, respectively, hurled scoreless ball for the first two frames, but in the third Medina sent eight girls to the Dlate for a four-runplate explosion.Roni Crum started things off with a double to left. Kathy McClaning moved her to third with a sacrifice and then Miss Crum scored when the shortstop fumbled Paula Griesinger’s grounder.Then the real fireworks began Miss Gregory stepped to the plate and made it 3-0 with her roundtripper. An error by the center fielder on Loretta Popovic’s fly and Lynn Philpot’s double to center made it 4-0 and finished up thescoring until the fifth.While Hinckley continued to be luckless in the scoring department, the home teamsent two more runners across the plate in the fifth.Debbie Gregory started things off with a single Miss Popovic’s booming triple scored one and thenconsecutive singles by Philpot and Renee Partlon upped their team’s margin to50In the bottom of the sixth,the listless Buzzards suddenlysprouted wings. Rae Namoski,who doubled to center, andSue Clark, who tripled to left,flapped home with help from Editn Snell, who singled.Three hits in the seventh netted Hinckley just one more marker, as two runners were picked off after over running their bases Lindenmuth, and Misssafeties. Kathy Lindenmuth and Karen Zgrabik each connected twice for Hinckley.Hinckley must now wait until Wednesday to get back into tournament action. The Buzzards will play the loser of tonight’s Brunswick - Medina encounter at 6:30 p.m., at Ella Canavan.Kathy Karen Zgrabik McDuffee, whoscored the run, did the hitting.Medina finished off its scoring m the sixth with a lone marker when Roni Crumreached on an error and scoredMedina outhit Hinckley 12-11. Debbie McDuffee and Mary Lynn Lemmer went all the way for their teams on thehill.Medina, managed by Mrs. Sue Fusco, who credits her team’s success last night to the coaching of Mrs. Joan Pershing, who has worked the girls into shape in practice, will be out for revenge.Lynn Philpot and Kathy McClaning each belted out two hits for Medina.
