Picked Industrial League Team Eyes House of DavidLeading players of the Industrialleague are looking forward to nextThursday's game with the Houseof David team at Turner field. Thiswill be the finest collection of baseball talent to appear on a local diamond this year.Dutch Faust, Dewhrist and Hendrick are some of the outstanding players on the whisker team. All of these players have been offered contracts in the majors, but since it would be necessary to lose their beards these offers were rejected. This team is known as the Central States Travelers and is the original House of David team.Aside from the talent of the visiting team, the local ball players who will appear in this game are deserving of the support of local baseball fans. Led by Sanderson, former Indiana Harbor Belt star, and Tim Murchison, this team will present batting power that the faltering Cubs would do well to note. With power at the bat as shown by such players as Lou” Newman and Jake Martin of Sinclair, RalphWhite and R. Blaemire of Youngstown, Sibley of Inland, Fletcher, former Tech star, Steve Kochis of Levers, as well as Derment, former University of Illinois star, Williams of Purdue, and Vic Mettler of Notre Dame, the bewhiskered pitchers will do well to carry plenty of horse- i shoes up on the mound with them.The Industrial league will also have enough pitching talent to make the contest interesting. With Black-j stone of Youngstown, Petty of! Hecklers, and Ed Bonchik of Levers, the hard-hitting whisker men should not get many base hits. It is probable that Tim Murchison, \ who tosses them up from the port side of the rubber, will start, and since he has pitched to this team before and has had the Indian sign on them he is expected to b© very successful.This game promises to be a real chance for the local fans to support Hammond's best in baseball. A real evening’s entertainment is assured since the House of David also has a very fast pepper” team that takes the field between innings.
