Following is a communica-received from their manager, F. C. Leland by Will Cprdingley:Chicago, Ii*., June 25, 1903.W. A,, Cordingley, Secretary Algo* na Baseball AssTn, Algona, Iowa;Dear Sir:—The Chicago Union Giants will be in Iowa early in August and we would like /very much to arrange a series of games with the Algona Brownies to be played ip your territory. While we admit that you fairly defeated us three out of fivegames of % series just past, yet thereaFreasare several1 reasons for our wanting another opportunity to play you for the championship and we trust you will consider them, In the flrst placewe were to play you seven games but able iwere only able to play five; owing to rain preventing two. Our team was in a crippled condition, two hitchers being in poor condition. Furthermore two of the games your team won were played in Algona on very muddy grounds and this we consider very much in your favor. The score of theother three games indicates very strongly that this last statement istrue.Should you grant us the privilege of playing you another series we as* sure you that should you defeat us a majority of the games played, that we will take our-defeat gracefully and admit you to be the colored champions.
