Sealy Takes Second Place Honors in Little League All Star Tournament Play in Bellville RecentlyA win over Bellville and aMi ‘’ % -* ^, loss to Brenham left the Sealy Little League All Stars in second place in the area tourney [ played at Neely-Roensch LLStadium in Bellville last week. Brenham took the pennant and a Bellville win over Navasota in the finals decided third and fourth places.The Stars from Brenham. where boy babies cut their teeth on baseballs, had too much for the Icx'als in the Friday night finale. By the end of the fifth inning when the 10 run rule was invoked, they had I tapped starting pitcher, Chris; Jalowy, and reliefers. SteveKonvieka and Donnie Machala, for 25 t uns. The 25-0 score is ; no reflection on the ability ofthe Sealy club because it isvery difficult to hit or field a bail when you can’t see it orto'reach it. It was strictly a Da-vid and Goliath affair except in this case Goliath had the rock and slingshot and really knew how to use them both.The preceding Wednesday night tilt that saw’ Sealv take Bellville 2-1 was a classic “down to the wire affair between two evenly matched teams. Starting pitcher Mel Pechacek had a no - hitter with9 strikeouts going into the final stanza, the score knotted 0-0. Three hits and three outs later, Sealy trailed 1-0 coming to bat in the bottom of the sixth and final inning. Bimbo Sloan and pinch batter Ronnie Machala got on base, and with 2 out and the count 3-2. pinchbatter Harvey Bagiev slammed one through the first baseman to drive in the winning run.Also collecting hits in earlierinnings were Steve Tankersley, Melvin Cernv. Donnie Machala. Sammv Dierschke, Chris Jal-owy, Mel Pechacek. and Steve Konvieka.
