Although it is yet in the middle of the base ball season, those who are more interested in the game of (the grid go on the principle that it is best in time of peace to prepare for war and will l»ave all preparations made by early September.Massillon has always been a foot ball town, much more so than a base ball town. For years it has held the state championship, and for two years at least had a team that was unsurpassed by any in the United States. As the state championship is now in the hands of the local team, fans will go to almost any honorable means to keep the pennant here.Foot ball players of note in the city have been putting their heads together and the rumor has issued from the powwow that the team that Massil-Ion wi|l have this year will be as strong if not stronger than that of 1907. According to present plans it will be composed of Fred Haag, Frank Botonar, Mully Miller, Bob Feather-inghatp, Orrin Ames, Frank Bast, Polly Riley, Fritz Miller, Crookston, Dusty Rhodes, Nutter Getz, Witmann, Flaunders and Oster. and probably others that will be added to the lineup before the season opens. It has been practically decided that the management will be in the hands of Orrin Ames, the man who managed the 1907 team so successfully. Work is even now being done quietly and the team will be well organized before the opening of the season.
