Dave Byars sails up, up and away for Palos-Orland in sectional diving competition Friday at Palos Municipal pool, and when the boys were through on the diving board . . .VictoryPalo,s-Orland swimmers and divers splashed their way to championship trophies in the sectional finals of the Des Plaines Valley swim conference last weekend.POSA swimmers hosted the diving competition at the Palos Municipal pool on Friday, scoring 70 points to outdistance South Stickney (57), Joliet Inwood (27) and Park Forest (16).'1716 divers, coached by Brian Vandenberg, were shooting for berths in the upcoming conference finals. Qualifiers, and where they placed at the sectional, were (age 10 and under) Nanette Caravette and Dave Messrnaker, first, Jean Kettman and Mike Smetana, third; (11-12) Cara Faber, third, and Pegi Faber and Dave Byars, fourth; (13-14) Lee Carter, first; Mary Byars, second and Tom Smetana, fourth; (15-18) Sue Smetana and Jim Mantell, first; Cindy Messrnaker, second, and RalphAlbores, third.AT PARK FOREST on Saturday, in the swim trials, Palos-Orlanri tallied 648 to Joliet Inwood’s 540, Park Forest’s 463 and South Stickney’s 283.
