l*»r4 not her Clear Ridge- title: West wins Area 2Little League tourneyClear Ridge West defeated National Starch Thursday 16-0 to capture the Area 2 title in District 15 Little League action.With the victory Clear Ridge West advances to district action Saturday, July 31, at Town of Lake. The opponent will be the winner of Friday's game between Clear Ridge East and Bermele.Matt Nawrocki hurled a masterful game for Clear Ridge West Thursday. He gave up only one hit, a long double to center field by Don Bishoff.Young Nawrocki struck out 16, gave up one walk and was in command all the way. The only batted balls against him aside from the double were two groundouts.He faced only two batters over the six-inning limit of three-up-and-three-down.Ford who had reached on a fielder’s choice.Mike Nowaczyk was the National Starch starter. He was relieved by Jim Dud-dleson in the first inning, a stanza that saw four runs for Clear Ridge.In the 4ih inning Clear Ridge scored three runs. In the inning Jerry Tuman, an 11-year-old, drove a homer over the left field fence.Nawrocki homered into the left field stands and there was a triple by Jim Kappelin the first inning. Clear Ridge tallied five runs in the secondinning.Bob Gavriek singled and later scored on a groundout. Tuman’s homer came with Tony Sodoro, who had walked, on base.Ken Brodinski led off with a double. Later Larry Ford got his second hit, this time a two-bagger. Frank Marasso singled in the inning before Duddleson was taken out.Nawrocki had a single in the third inning that scoredThe final three runs in the 5th inning came on Nawrocki’s double that hit the center field fence, Mike Barna’s single, and singles by Frank Tomaskovic and Jerry Tuman.Clear Ridge played errorless baseball. The team rapped out 13 hits in five innings.
