College softballSeminoles hire Alameda as new coachTALLAHASSEE — Florida State has gone west for a new women’s softball coach.The school says Nevada-Las Vegas coach Lonni Alameda will take over the program run the past 30 years by JoAnne Graf, who is returning to the classroom full-time at Florida StateAfter one season at an NAIA school, Alameda transferred in 1989 to Oklahoma where she played softball and volleyball for the Sooners. She was a two-time All-Big Eight selection as a first and third baseman.Alameda was named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2007.Former Niceville standout Allison Collins will be a sophomore at Florida State this fall.
