Stan Strut?, turned in a superb three-hit shutout pitching performance and won his own game.He homered with two mates aboard in the fifth inning.South Shore took District four honors.Clear Ridge, a perennial lavonte. took Area two honors with a 5 to 3 win over Burbank American on Sunday John Ford yielded only three hits and had five si rikeuutsHi* was relieved in the fifth inning by Mike Horen /.a Jim Leak was taggedfor six hits in the loss.West Lawn bowed to Burbank National 5 to 3 in Area four final tourney play on Saturday. Jeff Krizic gave up three hits, while Dave Spedale and Tom Devercau shared the mound chores for Burbank, yielding four hits.John Zuffa saved the day for West Lawn when he robbed Steve Block of a homer, making the catch of the day as the ball was about to clear the fence.Wright wood was eliminated by West Lawn 10 to 0 as Kevin Egan turned in a superb one-hit pitching pefor-mance. He struck out 17 of a possible 18 outs and helped his own fine pitching cause with a three-run homer.Clear-Ridge turned back Bermek* 8 to 2 behind Mike Litman’s five-hit pitching. Tim Gibson was the winning pitcher, giving up only two hits. Paul Krol had two hits, including a homer.Ralph Dvorak helped Oak Lawn North with his perfect day at the plate, collecting four hits in his four official times at bat.Evergreen Park American, playing before its home fans, turned back Ridge-Beverly 9 to 7 in the finals on Friday.Ken Rice was the winning hurler. Phil Mann homered in the first inning and GaryWildner had a round-tripper in the fourth for Evergreen.Mike Valentine was on the mound for Ridge. Dean Beville homered in the second.Oak Lawn Central and Evergreen National battled into extra innings before Chris Pajak doubled to drive in Tim Windt with the winning run after two were out in the bottom of the eighth. Ron and Rich Kos-tecka accounted for four of the seven hits made by the Chiefs.The Mohawks had kept the Mustangs from clinching the first round title 8 to 7 earlier in the week.
