Unload 15 Safe Swats In 16-8 Win• Christy, Hagen Lead Hit Parade. NARBERTH ~ Tiie Delaware County Baseball League turned its heavy artillery on the rival Penn-Dei Saturday and continued its mastery over that circuit with a 1G-8 all-star victory here.The Delco League sluggers, ( powered by Jimmy Christy of 'Tinicum AC and young Sam Ha gen of Sunoco, slapped 15 hits and won the wild and wooly affair by coming up with five runs in the sixth and six- more in the seventh.Bob Kewley of West Point and El Rancho was the winning hurl-er. He worked the last four innings, striking out. seven while scattering three hits.Manager Jim (Bananas) Weld ner of Fizzano Bros, thus chalked up his fourth all-star triumph in as many starts.I was a little disappointed that so many of our players didn' show up,” ho said, ““but the ones who did turned in a fine job.”Weidner had special words of thanks for his two assistants Jack Williams of Fizzano and Cliff Williamson of Tinicum AC and to two players who showed up lo pitch and catch, respectively batting practice—YeadoTs Tony Coma and Fizznno’s ItOnnie Rodgers.Because of a shortage of talent —and 90-plus degree heat—both Coma and Rodgers, along with Williams, got into the game.Rodgers distinguished himself by slamming a double, drawing two walks and starting a double play from third base.Christy slapped three hits In five trips and scored three runs . Fizz a no’s Lou Scscia and Ernie Peters socked two , safeties apiece.Andy Jarusinskl started on die mound for the Delco and left the game with a 3-1 lead as the Delco pecked away with one run in each of the first three innings.In the fourth, Niton’s Fred Frieze took over the chores and was the victim of the Penn-IJel’s most concentrated attack. Frieze could retire only ono man before yielding tliree runs on four hits. Tinicum AC’s Bill Starden took . over, putting out tho firo in the fourth but yielding two more runs in the fifth as the Penn-Del spurted to a 6-3 advantage.In the sixth, the Delco opened up with losing pitcher Bob Viola the virtim.Rodgers opened with a base on balls and Standen reached base on an error. Karl Rucker of El Rancho walked, loading the bases, and Christy’s single drove in two runs. Fizzano VHarry Mil-ler drew another pass to load ’em up again.After the next two batters went out, Peters walked, forcing in the run that tied die score at 6-6. Hagen’s single'and another walk to Rodgers made it 8-5 before Lee Parry, came on to end the rally.It was more of the same in the seven Ui.Rucker led off with a walk, Christy singled and Kewley beat out a bunt to load tho bases. A single by Yea cion’s A1 Goldis, a double by Local 119’s Charley ; Chew, Hagen's ringing bases loaded triple and a double by Rodgers followed In quick order to make victory certain for the Delco.Meanwhile, Kewley entered die game in the sixth inning and made sure the Pcnn-Del didn’t duplicate the Delco’s heavy action at the plate.Delco All Star* ,1’enn ’lit!
