Little Scott Giants Beat OelweinOelwein, la., July 24.—Special: The OelweinA'hicago Great Western baseball club lost to the Scott Little Giants of Des Moines Sunday in the hardest fought game of the season by a 5 to 3 score in 10 innings. The Oelwein team had the game won by a 1 to 0 score and everything looked like a victory until the break came in the first half of the inning when Krump walked. Rhodes fanned, and when Allen batted for Hamilton laid down a bunt which Goqdoui iniewto second and the umpire called him safe. With an argument going on at the plate Krump started to pilfer third base and he was almost to third when Godbout turned to heave the ball over third and with none covering the base It went on and the tieing score came in.Godbout pitched a nice game, allowing but three hits up until the big tenth inning when the negro team scored four runs on five hits and an error, and though Oelwein came back in the last half of the inning with four hits and two runs the rally was nipped when Kuney was called out coming in home on John Lonborgs hit with the basesfilled.ball by Rhodes in the second inning that Klevger was just able to knock down with his bare hand and with a quick recovery be shot it to first for an out. It was Klevgwer in theseventh inning that doubled to start the inning and “Lefty” Godbout rose to the occasion to score the run which should have won the game Oelwein plays at Ryan Sunday.
