HEALTHY - A clutch relief job by Doug Schivley gave the Fairborn Senior division Babea sacrifice bunt, and Rick the scoreboard. Crabtree did the same to load theRuth all-stars a 6-5 extra inning win over Tiffin — No. 1 in the State Senior division tournamenthere yesterday.Schivley relieved Joe Rowland with the bases loaded and no oneout in the sixth inning in a tie ballgame. He slowed a line drive up the middle enough that shortstop Greg Adkins was able to throw the runner from thirdbases with none out. Barry Hall fouled off five pitches with two strikes, then was hit in the shoulder with a pitch to force ir Adkins with the winning run.The locals spotted Tiffin a five run lead before they did any scoring themselves. Tiffin scored four runs in the top half of the first on three hits, a walk and two Fairborn errors. Two more hitsIN THE fifth inning, Barry Hall grounded a single up the middle. Jack Adkins hit a slow roller that was ruled an error on theshortstop, and Fairborn had two men on with none out. Nunnerysacrificed, and Mike Soergel i scored both runners with a doubleout at the plate, then struck out the next two men to face him toin the third produced another run, making the score 5-0. Fairborn started their come-keep the score as it was.back with a pair of runs in their half of the third inning. Adkins reached base on an error andin the gap in left center. Soergel later tied the score when Greg Adkins singled to center.Then came Schivley’s relief heroics in the sixth, and the winning popgun attack in the eighth.The locals were to meet Mt.FAIRBORN THEN scored thetie breaking run in the home half of the eighth without hitting the ball out of the infield. Greg Adkins led off the inning with a walk. Gary Wright then beat outCrabtree sliced a double to right, putting men on second and third. With two out, Burks Nunnery scored them both with a single just beyond the first baseman’s diving reach to get the locals onHealthy this afternoon at 12:15. Should they win that contest, they would be in the finals of thewinners bracket and play again at 6:15 this evening.i/T •
