Playday Termed Success S pectatorsWith 250 AttenA crowd of about 200 turned out for the Menard County 4-H Playday Saturday, July 18. The Playday, termed a success by Sam Kuykendall, County Agent, drew 74 contestants from all over the county.There were several events in each age group, with all-around winners named in each division.In the PeeWee Division, 8 and under, the Best All-Around Girl Ginger Nasworthy. The Best All-Around Boy was John Nichols.Barrel Racing winners were: First, Ginger Nasworthy; Second,Steve Wickson; Third; John Nicholas; Fourth, Kay Rendon.The winners in the Goat Scramble were: First, John Nicholas;Second. Kiwi Clark; Third. Terry Kirkpatrick; Fourth, Kyle Koth-mann; Fifth, Roy Garman.Madolyn Nasworthy was named Best All-Around Girl in the Junior Division, 9-13, while Staey Pennington was Best All-Around Boy in this age group.Winners in each event weie: Calf Riding-First, Carlton Cochran; Second, Martha Helen Slaughter, Third, Jay Wright; Fourth,Madolyn Nasworthy; Fifth, BethAnn Wright. Pole Bending - First Madolyn Nasworthy; Second, Martha Helen Slaughter; Third, Beth Ann Wright; Fourth, Stacey Pennington; Fifth, Eddie Murchison. Stacey Pennington wen first place in Ribbon Roping. Barrel Fu.c.ng, First, Madolyn Nasworthy; Second, Stacey Pennington: Third, I orrie Wiliman; Fourm, Beth Ann Wright; Fifth, Brenda Willman.The Top 10 winners in me Goat Sacking for the Junior Division were Madolyn Nasworthy, Lee Murchison, Brenda Willman, Vance Sorrell, Ray Hernandez, Linda Goehman, Beth Ann Wright Jamie Roy Jacoby, Dan Hailey, and Vance Simmons. The Armadillo Scramble had four winners: First, Wiley Ellis; Second, Roy Hodges; Third, Joe Ed Baker; Fourth, Lee Murchison.The Senior Division included contestants from the age of 14 through 19. Best All-Around Girl was Patricia Nasworthy and Best All-Around Boy was Brooks Walker. Event winners were: Calf Riding - First, Bob Wilkinson; Second, Brooks Walker; Third,Tommy Dick Nasworthy; Fourth, Ricky Hernandez: Fifth, OdieWright. Ribbon Roping - First,Brooks Walker; Second, Philip Hernandez; Third, Michael Hernandez. Barrel Racing - First, Philip Hernandez; Second, TommyDick Nasworthy; Third, Patricia Nasworthy; Fourth, Brooks Walker, Fifth, Douglas Decker.Winners in the Goat Tying Contest were: First.
