PonytailMEDINACarter’s HomeImprovement, Savings Deposit and Gerspachers continued their three-way tight for first place in the Medina Ponytail 1 eague last night with victories.Carter’s dumped Stop ’N Go, 18-11; Savings Deposit edged Crum and Chester, 10-9, and Gerspachers pounded Medina Supply, 16-3.Three home runs highlighted an 18-hit attack for Carter’s. Loretta Popovic, the winning pitcher, collected four safeties in the contest, two going out ofthe park. Dena Gregory smashed a grand slam and another hit. Marsha Smith and Debbie Deyling each had three hits in four appearances.Sue Ellsworth, the losing hurler, also crashed a homer and two other hits. Becky Abell had two hits for Stop N Go, one a roundtripper. Diane Baldi and Julie Cornelius hit well for the losers also.Miss Popovic allowed eight hits, struck out a batter and walked one. Miss Ellsworth fanned one and walked two.Savings Deposit had to fight to keep its share of the league lead as it held a slim margin in the seventh inning. The Realtors had a chance to win the game with two on and two out, but winning pitcher Ann Marshall put the stops on the rally.Shelly West, Jean Keating, Kim Brenner, Karen Karaffa and LindaUrban went three-for-four for theDepositors. Janet Marshall had two hits and Teri Klimko got the w inners' otherAmy Fuller, Diane Philpot and Roni Crum sw atted out three hits in four trips to the plate for Crum and Chester. Miss Crum’s hits included a roundtripper 1 .inda Kubis was the losing pitcher.Beth Raker rapped out four hits in five at bats to pace Gerspachers in its Medina Supply rout. Joan Randolph chipped in a triple for the winners and Sue Raker picked up the victory.Kathy Gifford had two hits for Supply and Marion Scott suffered the loss.
