Quebec Ties StrengthenMONTREAL (CP) - Fred Page of Vancouver, past president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, said Sunday “great strides were made toward unifying aill amateur hockey in the province of Quebec during weekend meetingsre.r#The meetings were attended by officials of the CAHA, the Quebec Amateur Hockey Association and the Quebec Amateur Hockey Federation. Lods Chan-tigny, Quebec’s commissioner Of sport, also attended.The meetings were held to mend a schism between the QAHA, currently recognized as the hockey governing body in Quebec under the CAHA, and the QAHF which was bidding to represent amateur hockey for the province.The QAHF claims a membership of 70,000 registered players below the junior category, while the QAHA claims its membership stands at 60,000- with a spread from pee-wee to senior ranks.TO ALTER CONSTITUTION“Necessary changes will be made in the QAHA constitutionwhich will unify all forces of hockey in Quebec and give a greater voice and representation to all categories,” Page said in a statement released at the dose of the meetings.“Now that this essential unifying groundwork has been done, further meetings will be held shortly in order to ratify the decisions taken,” Page added.The CAHA committee at theweekend meetings consisted ofLionel Fleury of Quebec City—apast president—Alf Taylor of Ottawa and Gordon Juckes of Winnipeg, association executivedirector.The QAHA was represented by President Henri Crochetieraof Sherbrooke, while Gaston Marcotte of Montreal, QAHF president, headed the federation delegation.S/l€€ia£OMEST’a1858CANADIAN RYE WHISKYCISTIUED BY HIAAM WAIKEB t SONS LIMITED, WAIKEKYIIU, CANADA
