Jth the other district teams, while Scottdale and Con-ncllsville inaugurated the elimination event. Last, year it was West Newton that1 ousted Dr. William Colvin and his Star scrappers. Ironically, it was a second inning unearned run that spelled the difference in Scott dale’s win, and even more ironic-1 al. Keith Ho^tetter also bounced in front of the plate, and Chirmonte slid across under Foreman’s attempted tag with the only run of the game.Meanwhile, Connellsville was stymied by the drops and breaking pitches of Zoracki who, while tagged for five hits, baffled the home bats with his slow “stuff.’' Connellsville s only real threat, outside of the nullified fifth inning run, was in the fourth. Foreman and Sholtis led off with singles. Miller then drove a grounder to third that Jim Mehallick grabbed and stepped on the base to force Foreman. Miller and Sholtis moved up on a wild pitch, then Mehallick made a nice pickup on Paul Trafecanty’s grounder and threw him out at first while the other runners held.
