Y., July 20—The pretty and healthful hills of Dutchess County have attracted many visitors to this select resort, where the well known Dutcher House is entertaining a great many prominent New York and Brooklyn families. John B. Dutcher, who owns the Dutcher House, and over 400 acres of land here, including Green Mountain Lake, which abounds in bass, pickerel and perch, was determined that the Dutcher House should take its place in the front rank of family resorts, and accordingly secured M. Frank Meehan, the Garden City Hotel’s first manager, to guide it. With Mr. Meehan's assistance, he then laid out the Dutcher House golf course, which already has attracted widespread attention and is the scene of many good games.NOTES.The first silver cup on the golf grounds was won by Joseph W. Edwards and last Saturday another silver cup at eight holes play was won by Fred A. Holmes, with a score of 87. John G. Dutcher finished second with 91. The third handicap tournament. eighteen holes, will be run off to-day.Manager Meehan, who Is considered a crack among golfers here, holds the best nine hole record for the course, having made 44, and the next best was made on Wednesday by Arthur Wolff, who scored 45 In a match with W. V. Toffey, who returned a card of 47. Another game on the same day gave Albert J. Akin 2d, 49, against his opponent, J. T.
