Reno Junior Net Stars Reach Desert Inn FinalsLAS VEGAS (Special to the Journal) Three tennis players from Reno advanced Thursday to the finals In the Desert Inn Junior Tournament.Steve Johnson moved into today’s boys 18 final by beating Russell Highfield of Las Vegas, 6-3, 6-1.Mark Humes of Reno defeated Bill Kellogg of Las Vegas, 6-0, 6-0, and stopped Tim Jordan of Las Vegas, 6-1, and then Jordan retired from the match.Humes will play Murray Peterson of Las Vegas in the boys 14 finals today.Abby Humes topped Debbie Kanalty of Las Vegas, 6-0, 6-0, and Joyce Stoffey of Las Vegas, 6-1, 6-1, to move into the girls 16 finals.She will play Lonnie Wilcox of Las Vegas today in the finals.Mike Baker of Reno was beaten by George Morrisey of Las Vegas, 6-3, 6-0, in a semifinal match Thursday.
