Not so, ;my friendswithstanding that Alex the Greatd nopast 45, he did hot look to be past 35 and I had taken him and Ids very attractive wife to be tourists that were merely resting and passing the time m this pretty nttie hotel.A bit later I was brought face to face with the great pitcher. Hegreeted me with a smile and a cheery how are you and then I proceeded to tell him that I had followed the game for 42 years, had seen thousands of ball-games but nothing that had given me the thrill as the one he had given me in that famous seventh inning of the seventh game in the World Series of 1928 when the Cards hadscored three runs in the fourth on errors and the Yanks had scored one in the third and one in the sixth and now had the bases crowded with two out—when a hit, an error or a walk would tie the score and a good clean hit would win the ball game and the championship of the world.
