House of.r«8th Frame Flurry Putsa _Good Game i n Beard BagWith Huge Arcs Flooding Field, Grover Cleveland Alexander Makes Spectacular Figure; Many Surprising Plays Feature Contest; Buster Blakney Stars in Short FieldThe moon and-the House of David ball team came over the mountain simultaneously last night; The moon was no match for the flood lights but Grover Cleveland Alexander’s bearded babies beat the Grays 3-2 in as nice a ball game as ever trod the State Hospital terrain. A crowd of more than 2,400 persons found themselves in the novel position of smacking- mosquitoes while the ball boys batted flies. It was the Hospital’s record crowd, beating the old top figure of 1,600 fans by a mean margin. Incidentally, the former attendance record was. set when a lesser House of David club (that featured by Buster Kenney) came here a couple of years ago.And the contest left an unforgettable picture when, with the huge lights shading night off into day, the great Grover Cleveland Alex-anriar wound up in that gangling twist and fanned two men in the only inning he hurled—the final.. AH along it was a spectacular contest.An overthrow in. the first heat, a succession off-dinky little hits to short right in the eighth and the necessary ground rules which permitted two bases on any fair ball which went into the - crowd lining the foul lines, battered down the Grays’ two earned runs.Grant, one of the Beards’ ace huriers, worked last night against the Grays—thrusting out of rotation the boys originally slated for the nod.
