PAGE TENPROGRESS, Clearfield, Curwensville, Philipsburg, Moshannon Valley, Pa., Monday, July, 15, 2013Mike Blose wins Third annual Connor Bobik Memorial at AMPFrom Staff ReportsThe third annual Connor Bobik Memorial was held at America’s Motorsports Park Saturday night with Mike Blose, of Dayton, coming homewith the $1,500 top prize in the RandySterling Trucking Late Models.Jason Mullen, of Ebensburg, picked up his career first Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub Semi-Lates; Dan Smeal, of Ramey, picked up his second Harter and Sons Garage Street Stock feature; Jason Beichner, of Shippenville, won his fourth Quigley’s Pub Pure Stock main; and Stephanie Ivory, of Coalport, won her fourth Clearfield County Metals Four-Cylinder feature.The micro sprints were on hand for the first time, and Bob Garvey Jr., of Grassflat, won that event.The late models were brought to the green with Sammy Stile and Scott Alvetro on the front row and third-place starter Mike Blose taking the lead before the first lap was in the books. Blose led the 30-lapper the entire distance, but several cautions and several drivers tried to keep his Ford-powered #5 out of victory lane.Stile was his toughest challenger as he hung with Blose the whole race and drew near several times. As the leaders began to work lapped traffic, third place was heating up with Alvetro, DanGill, Duane TaneDoug Glessner all jockeying for position. As they were doing that, 18th-place starter Andrew Gordon was heading toward the front and joined the battle for the top spot.Stile was trying to close on Blose, but Blose was not about to be denied as he held on to get his first ever win in the memorial race. Stile held on for second with Alvetro in third, Dan Gill fourth and Taneyhill fifth. Heat wins went to Glessner, Blose, Alvetro and Stile while Rodney Phillips won the main.The semi-lates hit the track with the largest field yet, as eight cars signed in and seven answered the call for the feature, with Jason Mullen and Jamie Barber on the front row.Mullen took the lead at the start with Devin Goss in second and Denny Fenton in third. Fenton and John Eckenrod got past Goss before Eckenrod spun. On the restart it was still Mullen leading with Fenton second and Eckenrod working through the field.Fenton dropped out on lap nine and Eckenrod moved into second and chased Mullen to the end of the race. At the line the top five were Mullen, Eckenrod, Randy Sterling, Barber and Goss. The heat was won by Eckenrod.Dan Smeal and Fuzzy Fields led the street stocks to the start with Smealtaking the lead and Fields falling into second. As Smeal led, the fight for second was anybody’s to win, as Fields, Johnny Lindenpitz, Brian Rhed andBob Rosman were battling for the spot with Lindenpitz taking it lap four andheaded for Smeal.Lindenpitz caught the leader but he couldn’t get past him as Smeal won his second feature of the season. Lindenpitz was second and Rhed was third with Rosman and Fields completing the top five. Smeal and Fields splithea$#in$:)'V;;'rJustin Queen and Jason Beichner led the pure stocks to the green flag with Beichner taking the lead and Queen going to second. As Beichner led, Colton Joiner got into the mix and passed Queen for second. As the race wore on, Beichner and Joiner were pulling away as Queen, Cody Hummel and Ben Krause were battling for third, with Hummel taking the spot.Queen was fighting back, but when Allen Luzier waved the double-checkered flags it was Beichner winning with Joiner, Hummel, Queen and Krause completing the top five. Joiner, Beichner and Jon Lee won the heats with Eric Lucas winning the consy.The four-cylinders went green with Stephanie Ivory and Jesse Laughard scheduled for the front row, butLaughard didn’t make the call, giving the outside pole to Darrin Thompson.Ivory took the lead at the start with Thompson in second. As the battled for the lead, Thompson took it from Ivory on lap 11, then they made contact one lap later, with Thompson pitting for the night.This allowed Ivory to continue on to the win with Bryan Warren, Mike Phillipson, Stephanie Lucas and Eric Luzier completing the top five. Aaron Luzier, Laughard and Ivory won the heats, and Dustin Kemp won the consolation.Only four micro sprints showed u for the action, as Bob Garvey Jr. too the lead on the first lap and went on toget the win easily over Dave Hawkins,Kyle Colwell and Jason Hamacek.AMP NOTES: There were a total of 108 cars in the pits, including 30 late models, 8 semi-lates, 17 street stocks, 25 pure stocks, 24 four-cylinders and 4 micro sprints. ... This weekend there are two big nights of racing action. Saturday is a regular show for the five divisions, and then on Sunday the 410 Sprints will have their show that was postponed on July 3. The 30-lap event will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start. The street stocks, front wheel drive four-cylinders and fireworks are also on the schedule. ... The Connor BobikMemorial raised $1,800 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, bringing the family’s total to nearly $10,000 raised in three years. ...
