Grover Cleveland Himself Brings Official House of David Squad for Night TiltA lot of ball, fans will get then* first glimpse of Grover Cleveland Alexander, one of.baseballs Ditching greats, when his official House of David team (which never has played here before) come to the State’ Hospital diamond Monday night for 'the region's first tilt under the are lights. The other House of Davidoutfit which has met the Grays several times is but a minor outfit in comparison.The Grays are used to night ball, the majority of 'em playing with the Bushwicks under the lights.Alexander’s outfit is the club which took over the Dodgers during a spring training series in Florida this season and beat a mess of other major league outfits during that Grapefruit League slate.Just the other day they handed the Rochester Red Wings, International Leaguers, a 5 to 1 smack-ing—thus handing out a poor nonloop game inaugural for GeorgeTorporcer, new Wing manager. Incidentally, Torporcer had a perfect day at bat yesterday when he poled out four straight hits to aid in overwhelming the Jersey City Skeeters 8-2,At any rate, -Alexander will twirl at least three heats against the Grays just to give the boys a glimpse of some of the stuff which made him the champion national league pitcher in games won for six seasons—the loop record. Walter Johnson of the Senators has a similar mark for the Americans. Grover Cleveland hung up that mark in 1911-14-15-16 and 17 with the Phillies and with Chicago in 1920, Ke also holds the record for both loops in scoring the most shutouts in one season—sixteen. He did that with the Phillies in 1916. Just to show what an old war hoss this man is—we recall that'in 1929 (thirteen years late). Alexander won nine games for St. Louis.
