VAILBURG’S SWEEPSTAKES.Eight Professional Cyclists Qualify for $200 Handicap Event.The closing Sunday afternoon bicycle race meet was held yesterday fit the Velodrome, Newark, N. J. During the remainder of the season the meetings willbe held every Wednesday and Sunday evening. The feature of yesterday's meet was the Velodrome Sweepstakes, in which each handicap mark was run as a heat, with one man to qualify in each heat for the final, which will be run next Sunday. The riders who qualified are Frank Kramer, Floyd Krebs, Walker A. Bard-gett, E. Anderson, Nat Butler, H. B. Appleton, A1 Judge, and W. A. Canfield.Premier honors were carried off by James A. Fogler and Frank Kramer in the professional events. The former won the mile event and Kramer carried off the thlid of a mile handicap from scratch.The mile amateur National Cycling Association championship was won bv Charles H. Stein, Empire City Wheelmen,with H. Van Den Dries. Bakerlm Athletic Club, second. Fred H’.ll, Armory A. A., Boston, was an easy winner in the ten-mile race. The summaries:Half-Mile, Non-Winners.
