His friends said at that time that Mike was not in his real form on the night of that battle, although we won over Lewis.Mike Glover has been fighting since he was 13. He was born in Lawrence, Dec 19, 1890. and a year after his family moved to South Boston. Mike graduated from the Lwrence Urammeypbut would never allow it to be said that he was a “quitter/’ and went through with the bout.Glover became a professional fighter in 1908. Jlis early matches were with Bed Shaw, Babe Cullen, Jack Gardner,I.each Cross, Marty Rowan and Harry Lortz. In most of the battles Mike was victorious, and at all events he left the ring on his feet.In 1909 he fought Charlie Seger, Eddie j Carter, Dick Nelson, Jeff Doherty, Tommy Murphy, Kerry Ferns and Jack Cardiff, In the next year Mike met some of the best in the ring. Battling ) Y Levinsky, Young Erne, Frank Perron and Buck Crouse were among his toughopponents.In 1911 came his initial bout with Jack Dillon in Pittsburg. And in that year his best battles were with Harry Math-ewson, John Kastner, Jeff Smith and Tommy Coleman. Since that year he had been open to all comers.Mike is survived by his wife, Mrs Mary Cavanaugh, and one child. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at the home, 65 Gates st, South Boston.
