The Augusta golf club' whs organized In 1900 with a membership of 40. Its first president was Hon Leslie C. Cornish, an enthusiastic golfer. The course is naturally a good one, being a field with the ordinary hazards and bunkers that may be found in any well-appointed links. The green and tees 'vere laid out by Walter Emerson, amateur champion of Maine in 1901, and now of Washington. The entire round of the llnks;which is a nine-hole course, is a trifle under a mile, the longest hole being 390 yards.The beginning of the present year has marked a new era in the history of this thlt;- election as president of Rev ^ Sr ^.E,^?yn?aulci Pastor of the Green-™^£lthnOCHat Ijl]^rc.1l' a Very enthusiaallc goiter, and eas ly the best player on the links, there has been a notable increase, in membership this year. Weekly matches have been arranged and carried out.to the extent anticipated.Mr Dunnack and Llewellyn Cooper have made the best individual records. Mr Dunnack has made the course in id and Mr Cooper in 47.
