The committees in charge ! are working hard for the success of themeet, w’hich everybody hopes will beunqualified. WmmThe state highways on Marthas Vineyard island have been wonderfully Improved during the past year, and now tine roads extend nearly to Kdgartown. With the 40 miles of concreted avenues over which to ride, Cottage City may Justly be styled the wheelman’s paradise. The program of the three days* meet will include racing, coasting matches, a horrible and antique parade,! fireworks on the lake, baseball game,swimming matches and tours in and about Cottage City,Pres Eliot comes out with the follow- s ing letter to those who intend taking In this delightful trip: 1“In past vears some of the good citizens of Cottage City, as well as 'the strangers within her gates,’ have complained that *a few wheelmen, during the ‘small hours* of the night, did at times allow their Joy to merge into unseemly hilarity, much to the disadvantage of those who w ould have slept.“I fully appreciate and admire the spirit of fun out of which boisterousness sometimes grows, but we must notoverlook the comfort and happiness of others,*\I would suggest that any form of recreation which could interfere with those who wish to sleep should be discontinued at midnight.
