Pan-Am five wins, 70-61DENVER (AP)X — Jim Chones, 6-11 center from Marquette, pumped in 19 points and hauled down 15 rebounds last night in leading the U.S. Pan American basketball team to a 70-61 victory over the Denver Rocket rookies.Chones, who canned 8 of 12 baskets from the floor, sparked the Pan Am team to a nine-point bulge at intermission which it maintained through the second half.Brian Taylor of Princeton and Robert McAdoo of North Carolina added 12 pointsapiece for the winners.»A1 Smith, the Rockets’ No. 4 draft choice from Bradley,had 16 points.
