Syracuse Chiefs Wallop Parent Yankees With 4 Runs in EighthSYRACUSE, N Y. (AP)-TheSyracuse chiefs of the Intern,i-tlonal League scored four runs In the eighth inning Thursday night and beat their parent team, the New York Yankees, 8 to .1 in an exhibition game.Triples by Jim Lyttle and Frank Tepedino and a double byLou Howell combined with two Yankee errors to produce theruns.The Chiefs actually wrapped up the game in the seventh when they scored the tying and winning runs.Lyqle led off the seventh with a single, stole second and scored the tying run on Dave McDonald’s ground rule double. How. ell then singled McDonald home with what proved to be the winning run.Bobby Mitchell of Syracusehit the only home run, a solo blow over the left field wall in the fourth inning. Syracuse picked another run in the sixth with a pair of walks, a bunt sin- j gle by Mitchell and a sacrifice fly by Jose Vieal. That run came off Rocky Colavito, New York’s minor league pitchingcoach who was taking a turn onthe mound.The Yankees got all three of their runs in the seventh when Syracuse pitcher Gary Jones issued three walks and a two-run single to Jake Gibes. A wild pitch by reliever Pete Magrini allowed the third run to cross the plate.
