Brewers Edge Shullsburg 12-11Fahs Hurls Win For Local ClubIn 11 innings of hard-played ball, the Monroe Huber Brewers edged out a strong Shullsburg team 12-11 last night on the Shullsburg homefield.High scoring and hot tempers highlighted the game, which was practically identical to the one played here two years ago.The Brewers got off to a slow start and were trailing 9-2 going into the top of the eighth. A five-run eighth closed the gap, but Shullsburg came back strong to score two runs in the eighth as well. At the end of eight innings of play, the Brewers still trailed 11-7.Dave Fahs started out the eighth with a walk. Ken Norder slammed a long double to score him. and Gene Mason’s single scored Norder. Pohlman’s single forced Mason at second, and Jerry Dwyer’s triple scored Pohlman. A double by Harvey Loeffel scored Dwyer, and Loeffel came home on La Verne Schneider’s single.In the top of the ninth a single, a double and a homer scored four runs for the Brewers to tie up the ball game.With two outs, Pohlman started the rally with a single. Dwyer made first on an error by the Shullsburg second sacker, and Loeffel slammed another double to score them. A home run by Schneider accounted for the final run of the inning.Neither team scored in the tenth, but in the top of the eleventh Dwyer singled, and Loeffel belted hi.- third double of the day to drive in the winning run.The win is the Brewers’ eighth in nine starts.Tonight at 8:15 the Brewers will meet the Rockford Blackhawks at Recreation Park.
