Goelitz Breaks A. A. U. RecordHarry Goelitz, former Oak Park high school track star, broke the central states record for the 220-yard high hurdles in the A. A. U. meet at Dayton, Ohio, on July 4. He went over the low barriers in :24-3 for the new mark. In the short race over high hurdles he was a close second to McKeowan of University of Illinois, former Englewood high school athlete. Goelitz led his team, the Chicago Athletic association,in individual point scoring. The meet was the biggest amateur meet in the west, with a possible exception of the college conference classic. The cream of the middle-western colleges and metropolitan athletic clubs competed. There is little doubt in the minds of Chicago track fans but that Goelitz will make the trip to Germanyfor the 1916 international Olympic meet, should he keep in condition and continue in his present form.
