J' *the three best trotters in the world today.A special attraction for Friday will be the effort to beat the world’s pacing record to wagon, by Hedgwood Boy and Lady Maude C. The record for this event has stood unbeaten since October, 1902, when Direct Hal and Prince Direct went a mile over the Memphis track in 2:05 1-2, six seconds faster than any other team, ever paced. There are a thousand and one reasons why a team pacing a full mile should be unable to beat this record, but the owners of Boy and Lady Maude C have contain their ability to break it, for their contract with the trotting association provides that they will not get a cent unless a record is broken. This means that if you are a spectator at the track next Friday you are likely to see the world’s record for this event knocked into a cocked hat.The rains of the p«sr week, followed by the sunshine of the last day or tw^ h»ve put the track on edge, and to“If theseconditions continue me track will bethan greased lightning.” Much st has been manifestedunding country in under favorableThe following is for the week:official programTuesday, July 13.First race—-2:24 trot Second race-—2:05 pace Third race—2:18 trot Fourth race—2:13 pace#««*** *#, July 14,old-trot* * ♦*»•«****•*4 * * * * * • * *July 15.* # . * • m$2,0001,0001,0001,000$ 500 1,000 2, 2,000..$1,000 . 1,+■-'*: *... .$1,000 . 1,000 2,000 • 1,4* '* *-i-: ,r r ' -. - :■ ’■ ■ . v ‘O' /•' ■.!.■.
