Diving is a demonstration sport at this year’s games. Halvorson, who used to compete in the event, said diving dropped off the summer game schedule and became a winter sport.They brought it back to Pincher Creek because we have a diving club. We do have lots til interest. We had one session where we had 25 kids, 1 lalvorson said.Some divers in the club have been at it for three to four years and Halvorson stood by the side of the pool giving four boys in the 12- to 13-year division some last-minute tips during their warm -up. She's our second mom and our pool is like a home away from home.“It’s fun. t love every mi nt n« of it,” Halvorson said. “I’m a mom so sometimes it’s like they're my children. From Medicine flat aiul the County of Cypress to CrowsncsC Pass anti Vulcan County, athletes and tlicir families poured into town. Sport events include everything from archery and golf to volleyball and photography. Three events, swimming, athletics and volleyball, are qualifying sports for the 2004 Alberta Summer Games in High River Inter this month.Apart from competing, participants also got to enjoy some social events, including a pool party, a youth street dance, karaoke and pancake breakfasts to name a few.T he games also brought bustle to Pincher Creek businesses. As might be expected, one of the busiest places was tire Slurpee machine at 7-Eluven.
