JACK WALLENGEORGE PHILLIPSWallen announces buying of Pontiac dealershipJack Wallen, a San Diego man with 15 years experience in selling automobiles, has assumed owner* i ship of the Pontiac agency in Redlands.Mr. Wallen purchased the Pontiac dealership at 522 North Orange street from Lee Gearhart and his son, Dick, who have operated the agency since 1953. The new name over the door will be Wallen Pontiac.Bom and raised in San Diego, the new owner has been a partner in a Pontiac agency in National City for the past four years. The Redlands dealership is Mr. Wallen’s first solo business venture.There will be no change in personnel under the new management, but Mr. Wallen has broughtin his own sales manager, George Phillips of Omaha, Nebr. Don W. Kediker will continue as service department manager.Mr. Wallen’s family is still living in San Diego. He plans to move his wife, Helen, daughter,Jo, 16 and three sons, John, 19, Jim, 10, and Gary, 9, to Redlands before school starts. The oldest boy attends San Diego State College where he is the top man on the tennis team.Mr. Phillips also plans to move his family to Redlands by September. He has served as sales manager at an automobile agency in Omaha for the past five years. Mr. Phillips formerly worked with Mr. Wallen in San Diego.His family includes his wife, Simone, and two sons, Daniel, 10, and Ralph, 15.During their nine-year management of the Pontiac agency, the Gearharts added a complete auto body repair shop and a dustfree paint booth.Dick Gearhart said today thathe and his father had no definite plans for the future. They have been engaged in selling automobiles for more than 40 years.Mr. Wallen asserted that he intends to maintain high standards in service, sales and personnel.
